Initiatives: Every Move Counts

Courtney, from Vinemont, Alabama, joined CESR in June 2013. She graduated from the University of Alabama in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and earned her Master of Science degree in Geography from UA in 2013. While at UA, she worked in the office of Telecommunication and Film, completed various internships at TV stations, and was an active part of the children’s ministry at Calvary Baptist Church. Courtney had the opportunity to work with the City of Tuscaloosa’s Recovery Team in 2011 following the Tuscaloosa tornado on April 27th 2011. She was active in hazard research with the Tornado and Hurricane Research Team with Dr. Jason Senkbeil and has presented hazard research at various conferences around the nation. As a graduate student she received an assistantship and taught Geography labs while working on her thesis, which focused on social media usage before and after the Tuscaloosa, Alabama April 27th, 2011 tornado.
